Born in 1925 in Atlanta, MO on a Hereford cattle farm that also had hogs, sheep, chickens, horses. Had two brothers and two sisters. Had 50 cattle and 25 sheep of mixed Shropshire breed. Draft horses worked the farm.
CHILDHOOD WORK
Interviewee walked behind the harrow as a boy. Young boys are allergic to work. He liked the tractor rising, but not much else.
CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
His rural school was 3/4mile away across a creek. Class of five. They alternate teaching 6 grades of 8 at a time. Describes school building. He liked school, recess. Teacher loved kids but strict. Story about snowballs.
