COLLEGE EDUCATION
She developed her writing in college. After trying to get published herself, she got an agent. Her first book was a children's book. The Round Barn books are for adults. Is writing a big book. Northwestern University Press liked her presentation at a conference. Offered to publish her Round barn stories.
CONSERVATION
Gives her opinions on the degradation of soil, air, and water through bad farming methods and waste.
NON-FARM WORK
She was first hired at Kent State to teach children's literature. Joined weekly radio show in Beloit, Wisconsin about books. Came to the new Sangamon State University as PhD Equivalency and moved the radio show there. Lasted nineteen years. Teachers having to teach to the test ended the program. Continued to teach children's literature. Little Brown wanted to publish a book about stories. Used her book for kids in class as material. Learned that new writers are afraid of criticism.
