- LIVESTOCK
- Used sawdust from ironworks as bedding material for calves. Calves began to die from lead poisoning. Search for cause. Father saw a glint of red paint in the sawdust. Ironworks used lead paint on the wood. Calves liked the taste.
- CRIME
- Cattle theft happened when meat price went up. Once someone butchered a calf right in the field. Maybe in the 1950s or 60s. Instance of embezzlement by milkmen in the 1940s during the war.
