FARM WORK
Not really into mechanical and housework when he was younger. Had a friend help him with certain things. Knew cattle and the equipment. Nowadays has to deal with tending to mechanical work.
SPECIALTY CROPS
Mentions how you have to hand pick certain pumpkins because mechanical pickers will damage them. Talks about different plants sensitive to different diseases and fungi. Explains how pumpkins are picked up mechanically and manually.
FARM BUSINESS
Mentions how he contracts with Libby on how many pumpkins/acres to sell. Mentions selling corn for $4.00/ bushel which he's never done before. Needs to think ahead for crops and when and where to plant. Says his farm is the quintessential family farm. Family loves the farm and land and wants to hand it down to family. Says his kids can decide whether or not they want to farm in the future. Even if they say no, at least he didn't eliminate their possibilities.
LIVESTOCK
Says dad had sheep on farm but too young to remember them. Has ponies and horses.
CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES
Youngest daughter sold eggs for 4-H, but now does gymnastics and other school stuff so doesn't have the time she used to.
