- Talks about not having much livestock on the farm and how livestock has disappeared in McLean County in the 60s or 70s.

- Was rotating corn and wheat and hay in the Litchfield area; harder to grow wheat because of the different climate. Mostly corn and soybeans in rotation. Is careful about rotation because of certain diseases and fertility. Does no till plowing. Talks about land and equipment and the capital it takes to own it.

- Talks about sharecropping and splitting land, equipment, etc. Mentions that he has priced the grain before they grow it. Checks the market online in the morning and at night. Has historical records about yields in the crops.
