Born in Mahomet, Illinois on a farm. Parents' farm has been in family since 1837. Parent's came from farm families. Father spent four years in WWII. Mother helped farming, raised children, and worked in an office at the local forest preserve. Harold and Thelma Taylor Parrett. Both their parents were farmers. He grew up in the 50s and 60s on the 600-acre farm. Twenty sows, fifty beef cattle and black Percheron draught horses and quarter horses. In the 50s, had no air-conditioning, just window fans. No heat upstairs. Did morning and evening chores - a routine.
