Parable of his father, hog butchery, & his dog. Beliefs about raising children. "Parents took the law in their hands." In the past children knew how to conduct themselves. "Can't build reform school for them all." Reverend gives his opinion. Notes need for parent at home. Mr. Hubbard appears to be suspicious of many. He raised his dog to be vicious. "I feed him (his dog) gunpowder to make him hate you." Story of getting bit by his dog while trying to remove burrs. "Ain't nothing bad about a dog who protects you."
