- Irma tells of how they saved to pay off loan from her parents for first house. Then moved again & built house in Roodhouse.
- Husband was drafted & had to go to boot camp again. Spent his time in mail service in San Francisco. Tells of living quarters in CA & trip home while pregnant due to Wilbur being notified of pending deployment to Japan. Irma heard of atomic bomb drop while on train. She returned to San Francisco after daughter's birth & then they returned to IL. Reflections on atomic bomb. Remembers hearing of start of Pearl Harbor attack in Alton before draft.
