- In Illinois, people aren't as interested in having nice barns on their property as they are in New England. His company does a lot of work on old court houses, college buildings, Fort Massac in Metropolis, IL, log pavilions for the Peoria Zoo, etc. He wishes more people would use barns as music or art studios. He is somewhat familiar with artists using barns as subjects of art, such as Larry Kanfer from Champaign. He doesn't like it when they make art of decrepit barns. There is a man in Knox County who does pen and ink drawings of barns. There are two major problems with barns in IL
