- BARNS
- Red is a common color for barns because iron oxide is readily available for pigmenting paint. It wasn't until the 1860s that barns were painted. They used to lime wash or milk wash the walls.
- ORGANIZATIONS
- There are groups like the National Barn Alliance that lobby in DC to get funding for salvaging barns. Then there are groups like the Illinois barn Alliance which is rather new and lacking direction.
- URBANIZATION
- Unions
