- FARM ORGANIZATIONS
- This club was and still is involved in the sports programs at the University of Illinois.
- REFLECTIONS
- They gave governor Otto Kerner a prize ham to get in his good graces. In the late 1980s, ham prices fell. Russ says the best three things he got from U of I are his wife Mary, his friends, and his degree. They are soon to celebrate 59 years married.
- FARM ORGANIZATIONS
- The Porkettes were wives of people in the Illinois Herd Improvement Council. They worked to educate people about pork.
- REFLECTIONS
- Russ values the friends he has made being a pork producer. He had one exchange student from Krakow, Poland. Russ and Mary went to visit him and he told them that they changed his life. One young college student who came to work for them is now their son-in-law.
