- Continuation of discussion of parents, their raising of children, etc. Went to Ma & Pa Kettle movies. Never saw parents showing physical affection. Mother in charge of children & house. Mother proud of German heritage. Taught him German before going to school. Mother cared for large garden. Larry was supposed to be a boy & was called Loretta until age 3. Also dressed in dresses & had long hair until 3. "Damn it you were supposed to be a girl!" He became a houseboy. Reaction of brothers to his not doing farm work.
