- Mrs. Williams tells of the miner's strike in Herrin, the conflict between the union & scab workers. Union made some scabs crawl to cemetery & killed them. Mentions murder of mine manager. Scab workers lived in railroad cars near mine which were burned by the Union workers. Husband was union, but he never took part in the disturbances. Peabody made him quit Union to take new job. Story of knowing Charles Lindbergh & his drinking home brew. Tells of her batch of root beer blowing up in the basement. Some town folks went up in Lindbergh's plane. Lindbergh would come twice a wk to deliver mail. Mrs. Williams tells how to make home brew.
