In the drum drying room, produce is put onto rotating drums filled with steam that turns the produce into a powder. The powder goes into baby food and health food and many other products. Some of the produce turned to powder are cherries from Michigan, or raspberries from Oregon. Also, beans. Oregano is harvested about five times a year. They don't cut the plant too low. Oregano is perrinial so they replant about every five years. Part of the mint family. During the hot summer months they harvest basil. Dill and cilantro are harvested during the fall. Onions and chives are harvested all the time. They plant and harvest three beds at a time. After the wagon is filled, it goes to the water sprayer.
