- FARM ORGANIZATIONS
- Son David joined 4-H to raise hogs for State Fair competition. Calves were too expensive of an investment. Cheaper to buy a gilt (female pig yet to have piglets) or two. He kept track of feed costs, showed them in the fall. Learned how from books, magazines, and people. Bought a Belgian mare for $350 that kept him busy and entertained. Son learned about winning and losing in 4-H. Won state and national.

- Tells how son's experience different from hers. Her father helped raise him.
- COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
- Joined woman's club after came back home; felt obligated to help; because president. Relates trip to Bressmer's store for home décor tips presentation. Project with comforters, linens for Harrisburg and Illinois river flood victims. Made crazy quilts from scraps. Taught manners to teen girls
