CHURCH ACTIVITIES
Attend St. Mary's church in DeKalb. They are Catholic. Judy does not belong to any church organizations now. In past she belonged to the Council of Catholic Women. When they lived in Cloverdale they were more involved in church because it was relatives and a tighter knit community. Married in 1963. Discussing different churches in the area. In Cloverdale she was more friendly with the priest than the other parishioner were. She was not Catholic until she married. Husband and son were both alter boys at the church in Cloverdale. In-Laws were members of Catholic Daughters but not Judy. Judy joined Council of Catholic Women. They had fundraisers, cleaned the church. Christmas bizarre. She would volunteer in the Catholic schools.
FAMILY
Lived in Cloverdale for 10 years and moved to farm in 1974.
CHILDREN'S EDUCATION
Kids went to public school in Malta. Previously the boys had attended Catholic school in Cloverdale. She was a room mother & worked on the RIF program. Describes RIF (Reading is Fundamental) program. Organized sales, raffles. Discusses the differences between school at Cloverdale and Malta. Got to know families a bit better in the parochial school. She liked Malta right away and her family fit in.
CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES
Kids were in 4-H. Showed steers in 4-H and FFA. In years past FFA was just boys. Now its both girls and boys. FFA kids show animals, FFA fair. Daughter belonged to 4-H for a few years. Went to 4-H camp. She chose cooking projects. Oldest son was involved in soccer.
