- FARM FACILITIES
- Many buildings still on farm site that were there years ago, but some were deteriorating. Got rid of hogs in 1984. The farm has seen its highs and lows, especially in the 1980s. Layout changed because the operations changed. One of the old buildings was changed into the gift shop. He and his wife own 100 acres; he and his sister own the adjacent 40 acres together; and his uncle owns the next 40 acres.
- NON-FARM WORK
- Sold insurance for about 6 months because income wasn't good and knew he had to get an off the farm job.
- SPECIALITY CROPS
- Grew pumpkins for a local company. One time didn't have a chance to get them to the company and didn't want to waste them. He set them in the front yard, people stopped and asked if they were for sale. After that, decided it would be a good way to make some extra money. Morton is Pumpkin Capital of the World.
- FARMHOUSE
- Calls his house a grand old house, working on it was a labor of love. A lot of plumbing that had never been changed.
- TRANSPORTATION
- Has one of his dad's uncle's old trucks that sat in a barn for about 40 years, a 1928 International.
