- CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
- Mrs. Williams tells of the schools she attended in DeSoto & classes. Used Harper's Readers. Notes class size, library (just a bookcase), stove in each room. Only bathed once a wk.
- CLOTHES
- Wore aprons at home over wool dress. Mention again of her aunt who made her clothes. Wore long black stockings. No shoes fit. Wore button hook shoes. Got a good pair for Christmas & a pair just for school.
- CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
- She carved her & future husband's initials into chair & was punished. Thought future husband was a smart-aleck. Scared of male teachers. Story of female teacher with only 2 dresses.
- RECOLLECTIONS
- Mentions a special friend. Talks of her early teaching experiences & children getting off to work on farm to dig sweet potatoes.
