GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS
Mr. Shuman tells of father's work with Farm Bureau & farm philosophy. Notes, organizational & farmer debate to have government intervention or let free market take its course. Notes that government agricultural programs started because government did not want agriculture to collapse. Recalls father at first supporting Roosevelt & farm intervention as a last resort to save American agriculture & his & others belief later after the economy improved (after Great Depression) that agriculture needed to have less government programs.
