- Paul Shuman was born in 1937 in Decatur, Illinois and grew up on the Charles Shuman family farm in Sullivan, Illinois. Paul discusses growing up on a farm and his father, Charles Shuman, as well as the many changes he's observed in farming, increased mechanization, the importance of genetics, the change in fertilizers from natural to chemical and the importance of management and marketing skills in today's farmer.
