ELECTRIFICATION
Talks about rural electrification. The day they got electricity at their farm was one of the most important days of his life. They were supposed to get electricity sooner, but the war interrupted that. Talks about all the changes electricity brought., most importantly, a milking machine. Talks about the cost and prices of things.
FARM EQUIPMENT
Talks about the family getting a tractor in 1939. The tractor had a cultivator and a hay baler, but not till after the war. Everyone drove the tractor. Mechanization was important but electrification was more important, it effected every aspect of your life.
FARMHOUSE
Never had indoor plumbing. Father didn't think it was right to go in the house. Took baths Saturday night, whether they needed it or not. Water was heated on the wood stove. Heated with wood, didn't use coal. Had trees on the farm, it was a chore in the fall. Talks about
