- CROPS
- The crops are washed in water and a chlorine agent that lowers bacteria. After the washer the crops go into the freezer. It runs about 16 hours a day. The water comes from a well. It is changed about every hour and a half. When the crops come out of the washer the go into the freezer and freeze in about 15 minutes. The crops go through a freezing tunnel and after it is frozen it goes through a grinder. A couple thousand pounds run through the freezer every hour. Chives are screened into three different sizes. Everything that goes through the plant is ran through a metal detector to make sure there are no scraps or bolts in the product.
